In September of 2010, I was driving around southwestern Virginia looking for an animal shelter with kittens. As fate would have it, I found one with just one adoptable girl kitten. When I put her tiny little self into her carrier and went to drive home, I noticed that there was a Goodwill Outlet. I made a note of this and was never able to make it back.
Fast-forward to 2015 when I met my friend Kathy at Toastmasters. Kathy works for Goodwill International and it turns out that there is a Goodwill Outlet about 2 miles from my house! What?!
So I did some quick surgery on this dress and whacked the bottom half off. It's summer after all!
Then headed to Goodwill International for a Tour. This plant is the headquarters for the half of Virginia and was HUGE. They have classrooms and meeting rooms for training as well as helping people get jobs or training. The job placement is free to the public as well! They have an area where they take all the unwanted clothes and they pack them TIGHT and then send them to countries in need. It was so cool to see.
Now for the outlet! The outlet has refurbished computers and electronics.
The Outlet was just covered in these bins. All textiles were $1.39 per pound while Household items were $.59 cents per pound.
I wasn't sure what to look for but noticed that people were standing around. I asked what they were doing and apparently people line up for the new items to come out and almost jump into the bins for the new stuff! It was the wildest thing I've ever seen!
Here's me trying to navigate through the store!
If there is a Goodwill Outlet in your area, I would encourage you to go and check it out. There were all kinds of interesting things!
This is also how I watch Little Buddy. She kept trying to photobomb my pictures.
