I'm in Blacksburg, VA and I was staying with my wonderful friend Jamie. Her roommate, Maria was asking all kinds of questions about sewing and thrifting so I decided to show her how to remake a dress. Here's the catch, she only had about 5 mins before she had to leave.
I decided to show her how to remake a dress just by cutting it.
I selected this dress for the challenge because it is made out of a material that doesn't fray. You can tell that it doesn't fray by looking at the seams and seeing if they have been finished (aka they have thread sewn around them).
First, I cut the sleeves off.
and then this fantastic collar of awesome.
I didn't have any pins on me so I took random objects around the room and held them up to my leg until I found one that was the correct length for how much I needed to take off the skirt.
Jamie had this sheet of paper that was perfect! I cut the fabric and then moved the sheet of paper as I went.
Hanging out with some FANTASTIC Alumni Speakers!
And the Hokie Bird... because who doesn't want to hang out with the Hokie bird?!?!
I may or may not be a coke supporter, but I have never been able to find a "katie" named coke bottle in the Share a Coke program. I FINALLY FOUND ONE TODAY! OMG I AM EXCITED!
