Did you know that this pattern is called Gingham? I thought it was just a checker pattern. Who knew it actually had a name! I saw this beauty at the thrift store and had to wait 3 whole days for it to become .50cents. Great thing no one else wanted it!
It fit just right and was already the perfect length. I wanted the sleeves to be shorter so I took a marker and drew straight on the dress.
I cut the top part of the collar off the dress.
Then smoothed the sleeves out flat.
Then chopped them off!
Time to head out to a Hokie Alumni Chapter Meeting. Yummy free food and hummus!
T-shirts day 3!
I used most of the material for the red and white shirt but the blue shirt was still mostly intact. What should I do with you... I first cut the back off.
Then cut a semi-circle in the back.
And took the sides in a little bit.
I grabbed the sleeve of one of the red sleeves and started cutting small sections.
These will become bows :)
I hot glued the bows together. I didn't have alot of glue so I glued them sparingly! I then hand sewed them on the back.
Since it's Memorial Day, I had to make a fabulous flag out of fruit and pretzels. My friends kept asking when they could eat it. Problems of crafter friends!
Yesterday I cut the red shirt apart to make it into a really comfy skirt. Today, I'm adding the skirt to the other two shirts!
Yesterday's red skirt :)
I wanted to use this striped shirt as the top. I had it on and marked with a pin where I wanted to cut it.
Then cut off the loose and baggy sleeves.
Then I cut off some of the extra length.
I cut off one of the sleeves. This will be used for the middle section.
I cut two giant strips out of the blue and then sewed them together.
I then pinned the strip to the top white part.
Now time to sew the red skirt to the top!
Ready to get some Americana wear!
Dress complete for the perfect day at the pool!
It's Memorial Day Weekend which means that it is time to rock some red white and blue!
My favorite kind of theme!
I started with these three shirts.
One white and striped, blue and a red!
I knew I wanted to combine them together to see what they would look like together.
I tried on the red one last and was surprised to learn that it is SUPER comfy!!!
I wore it around for about an hour debating cutting it. It was very ill fitting, but there is nothing like a nice soft shirt...
I cut the neckline and sleeves off. The remainder will be the skirt. I drew a line with a crayola marker so it would be easy to see when sewing.
I was in the process of trying this on when I was called away to bring Sasha some water. Sasha had gotten locked out of the house and her owners wanted to make sure she was ok.
I somehow suspect that Sasha is fine....
This shirt is just awesome. It was a comfy shirt and now a super comfy skirt! I paired it with a white shirt and a light blue tank top.
Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
Today started out pretty normal. It was a little hectic, but on average, normal. It did not, however, end normal.
I found this pretty teal green dress for about .20 cents earlier today. When I tried it on, I noticed there was a big of a stain in the middle of it :(
I liked the dress, there must be a way to save it!
I will add some BLING!
I marked the middle of the dress with a pin. I have a bunch of pretty blingy beads that I can add to draw the focus up and away from the stain!
I grabbed some bling from my bling bag. Yes I have one of those.. (These were bought from Michael's in a HUGE bag for like $7.00. I'm pretty sure I'm never going to use them all...)
They also have jewel glue, but I had about 2 hours of drying time so I pulled out the hot glue!
One row didn't seem like enough, so I added a little bit more.
Projects often get a bit interesting... Yep, that's my cat. Sitting on my dress.
Time for Toastmasters!
My club welcomes everyone and tonight they invited a Senator-ally Candidate. Mr. Steve Martin of Virginia. I'm not very political so it was very interesting to hear him speak.
Then my FABULOUS Mentor Dr. Deborah gave her speech. All of her speeches are so amazing! If you are looking to be inspired, check out your local Toastmasters!
Then it was my turn. I apparently only make really awkward faces when I talk. I promise my speech was funny.
Then it was award time. Check out who totally won two awards... I am such a little kid :)
Best Speaker and Most Improved! I think Deborah's speech was totally better, but this club is fabulous!
Now wait, where were the cop cars?!
We walked out of the meeting chatting and suddenly 7 cop cars sirens blazing set up right outside of where we meet. Ummm... what's going on? Everyone started running to check it out since we are all completely nosy. Nothing like networking with your fellow Toastmasters over why there are 7 cop cars in the street! It turns out they were looking for a wanted person! What!?!?!
It wasn't me, by the way :)
My only crime is extreme CRAFTING!
This dress was totally saved and the bling made such a difference! It changed the dress from being a normal 20 cent dress into a totally pretty new dress!
