I found this fantastic long, blue polyester skirt for .50cents. It was perfect because it actually fit in the waist.
AND IT HAD POCKETS! Who doesn't love a skirt with pockets!
While I had the skirt on, I placed a pin where I wanted to cut the skirt and then took it off. I pinned the top of the skirt so it wouldn't move and then cut it straight across with my waffle scissors.
Next, I folded over the bottom edge and hemmed the skirt.
I knew I wanted to add a bit of pretty trim to the skirt. Michael's always sells trims like these in the dollar isle so I pick them up when they go %50 off. On my sewing machine, I have it tapped off in inch increments so I could line up the edge.
Short skirt with cute trim!
