I'm not entirely sure why I picked this dress from the thrift store, maybe because it was a dress? I liked that it was made of cotton- which is easy to dye :)
Downside- it had a drop waist and a bow where my actual waist goes? Fun fact, I totally hate drop waists so I never want to keep them!
Pattern close up!
I decided that I wanted to dye the dress a different color and found this dye in my drawer. I really don't like this dye so I figured I'd use it! I used a bucket since I have a front loading washing machine.
I placed the dye in and then spun it around with a spoon.
I tried the dress on and then cut the waist so it would be higher.
There was extra in the middle and the skirt did a weird "V" in the front. I cut it from the middle section.
The skirt was gathered before but when I cut it apart, the gathering came out. Wow, the skirt is soooo big!
I ran it through my gathering foot but for some reason it wasn't working. I decided to make pleats instead! I placed it on my dress form and started pleating!
I sewed the bottom to the top and now I'm ready!
I love that the skirt was still full :)
Still practicing my handing my purse to my friend modeling pose :)
